A Character Summary of Simon
Simon is the innocent baby-faced character in Lord of the Flies. In the beginning of the novel, we see that he is shy, loyal, and nice. Simon is a very crucial character in Lord of the Flies because it is him that introduces to the idea of their being a beastie in the first place. Simon is an epileptic. He suffers from heat stroke and seizures, which render him unconscious. It is during one of these epileptic fits that he comes in contact with the lord of the flies.
He learns that the beast is inside all of us, not on the island. Simon relays this information back to the group, and that is what gets the group to go crazy and start hunting for the beast. This is also what gets Simon killed. Simon gets beat to death by the group when they were reenacting killing a pig.
"As if," said Simon, "the beastie, the beastie or the snake-thing, was real. Remember?" (Chapter 3)
"I'll go if you like. I don't mind, honestly." (Chapter 7)
